Get a Wishon 870Ti 3 iron bent to your specs. Add an Apollo Hump shaft with ProSoft inserts and say thank you.

OK, this wins the "Best Thread Resurrection" contest.

Agreed... All good informational posts today, hopefully the OP didn't give up on it after 10+ years

Torpedoed from the distant past. Seeing this makes one realize clubs like the Controller were rendered obsolete by hybrids.

Does this particular board have ... issues ... with old threads being brought back?

I've noticed that more here than other joints I drink in.

They make the Great Big Bertha tungsten titanium 1 iron that is 17 degrees.

Why not see if your set has an option for a 1 iron.

It's funny, I saw a Controller 17* at a thrift store today for $3 and almost bought it but didn't because it was R flex. After seeing this thread I may go back and pick it up and reshaft. Especially if I stink it up tomorrow morning on the course.

They're not a bad club, and while hybrids are easier to hit, the Controller doesn't have the hook bias so many hybrids do, so you can work it either way with ease. I used the 17* a lot for a number of years, both off the tee and off the deck, but the 12.5* I couldn't do anything with. For $3, you should buy it and give it a try
