I have a set of Nippon 950GH S shafts and want to soft step them. The ball flight with the Nippons are already fairly high, how much will the ball flight change when soft stepping the shafts?

ORIGINAL: blaze96 So basically it is a non issue in terms of ball flight? Lets make it simple. Pull the shafts from your four iron and your 5 iron. Put the shaft from your 4 iron into the head of your 5 iron. Put several wraps of a half inch tape around the end of the grip. so now the inside (head side) of this tape is now 5 iron length/ Go hit it and see if it makes a material difference in height. You tell us.

The change is imperceptible. Beware, if the shafts were pulled from an OEM set, there's a big chance they're already soft-stepped.
