I find that my pitching wedge in my set of irons is too much like the rest of the irons. I can hit them high, straight and accurate but I need a little more versatility out of my pitching wedge. Does anyone ditch their matching PW for something different?

I play mine and the GW and I am considering going to the SW to match my next set. I want mine to be similar, for full shots that is key to me, on less than full I am going to have to report back I guess.

In one bag I play the SMT MB's 5-9 irons with Eidolon 48, 52, 56 & 60* wedges. In the other bag I can't really call my Adams A7 PW a wedge at 45*. I use it like a 9 iron with Vokey SM 50, 54 & 58* wedges. Both sets fills the gaps great from 130 yards.

One of the sets I own has a 43.5 degree wedge. I added a 48, 52 +56 degree wedges to complete the set. How can you have a 43 degree wedge?

How can you have a 43 degree wedge? With a 27-28* 6i. I've used 2 sets of irons so far this season and not carried the PW of either set. Nor a GW.

I'm actually thinking about dropping the 9 iron in my set since for some reason I can hit my PW just as far and I can throw another club in the bag.

The "pitching wedge" in my set is more correctly labelled a "10 iron". No kidding. I've had more than a few folks do a double-take on that one. I also play the gap wedge included in the set. No, they're not as versatile as blade-type wedges, but I don't use them around the green unless I really just want a chip and run. They still work fine off the hard-pan desert when needed.

I've used a different PW, but currently it matches. Thinking of changing it though as I'd like something a little smaller and less offset, but not a blade.
