well he seems to be on his way back to the top. He still has a ways to go so lets see if he can pull off one of the remaining majors.

With this win he didn't jump any spots in the world rankings, but it did put him in striking distance of the top spot. If he wins The Open he will regain the #1 player ranking in the world. Or if he misses there and wins the PGA, he will regain the #1 spot in the world.

It did put him #1 in the Fedex rankings and he passed Jack with the second most wins behind Snead.

Amazing peolpe were counting him out just 6 months ago, now he's won 3 times already. I would'nt surprised he wins total of 5 this season

Not that you can avoid hearing that "he" won, but I dont watch any turney where he is on the leader board. I was actually watching COMPELLING golf at the Champions Turney.

It is too bad your prejudice kept you from watching it, this was a good Sunday finish and a nice battle between Van Pelt and Woods. They went at it for 33 holes Saturday and Sunday until both bogied 16 and then Van Pelt blinked and Woods went on to win. This was a tough tournament on the very tough track. Your loss.

As you know I'm a huge fan and golf at that level is between the ears. And lets face it the past 2 years he looked terrible. He seems to have put everything behind him now and he is on his way back. He still has a ways to go to get to the same level he was at before his fall from grace. He has let a few tourneys go where he has not finished the deal where the old Tiger would never let that happen. He was arguably the best closer in the game. The US open is one example of that. So lets see if he continues to improve and gets that former killer instinct back where the players know he is just not one of the guys in the field but the old Tiger in contention who dominates and intimidates his fellow competitors. Thats the TW I want to see playing again.

He should get 5-6 wins this year but a major would be huge.

If he gets a major we wont here any crap about a weak field

Arnie and Jacks tourneys were no slouch flelds. Those were legit wins and much stronger fields than this past weekends. JMHO FWIW.

and many of Tiger's past wins were versus the best fields as well

he's won now 3 times and each 2 weeks before a Major, crapped out in the 1st two majors but maybe this time he can rise to the challenge

I agree which is why until he can win a major the wins for him really dont mean that much to him either. I'm sure it helps with the confidence and he is improving his game but its still a work in progress. Like I said earlier the old Tiger would of pounced on the US open leading going into the weekend. That tells me he has more work to do with his game.

or with that short fairway btn the ears.

Tiger knows all too well that these B/C caliber fields are not important to him.........they may be to the 100 + average tour guys he beat but not for Tiger
