Not wanting to come off as an ass, but does anyone know what an SSGT.'s pay scale is while in Iraq? Does anyone know the amount of the bonuses they get for going back again and again?

Sad indeed, but what's the solution? Should the government buy each soldier a house? Or maybe force the banks to pay for them?

Valid point indeed, I feel like all the waste in the country could be put to use. We need SERIOUS reform, but that is another topic. Not knowing the circumstances, the guy may well have felt a sense of entitlement for serving his country and chose not to work. Not saying that was it, but its not impossible either. Its just sad to see good people out of a home when we throw money away on a baseball player proving a point that affects nothing in society. Just crappy values in this country. Maybe military personnel should get a home, hell Congress gets lifetime benefits, why not the guys that defend Congress' notions?

I don't know much about the Roger Clemens trial (I didn't follow it), but perjury is a big deal that does affect society in my opinion. When it is apparent, it should be prosecuted.

Don't buy what you can't afford.
Why is that so complicated?!

That's the issue, it was NOT apparent, it was another dirt bag lying for the second time in front of Congress, trying to stay out of prison by throwing somebody else in. If anything, the case was against the wrong person.

+1

I make about the same as him and still live in a 1 bedroom apt. I'm saving my money to get a house when I can afford at least a 10% down payment.

That may not be the qualifying amount I need to get a loan, but it's what it USED to be.

They should certainly get Govt funded loans at a concessional interest rate, at the very least .I really hope that you are paying your soldiers
far more than has been suggested btw .I'd have to know lots more about the man in question's individual circumstances
before passing any further comment.
