Steve, half price on a new club was beyond reasonable, IMO. I don't think you should have to warranty items that were purchased secondhand.

Speaking of warranties....since it was brought up..I just got off the phone with a gentleman...who told me his club broke and wanted to know if I would replace at no charge? A reasonable question.

I asked him where he purchased...and then if he purchased it new or used?

He told me he bought it over a year ago...used.

I explained to him that I cannot warranty used equipment (secondary sales) but do offer a lifetime warranty on purchased new. He seemed rather upset..so I told him this is what I will do..I will offer him a new head with a lifetime warranty for essentially 50% off the retail price. Which is rather inexpensive. He went on tilt!

He seemed adamant that I should warranty the clubhead...used!

I thought I was being reasonable...but, obviously he didn't see it that way.

Now...what is your opinion...seriously, I would really like to know?

Geekoman, I am going to ask you the question but it really is a question about warranty policies in general and I am asking you as a business owner. Why are the warranties only to the original owner and not the second or third owners. This seems to be the standard practice across multiple industries and nothing specific to your company. Consider these two scenarios:

1)If owner #1 bought the club from you two years ago and it broke after two years of use
2)Owner #1 owns the club for a year and sells it to owner #2. After owner #2 owns the club for a year it breaks (same two year time span as example #1).

Why is the person associated with the equipment part of the warranty determination…why isn’t just the equipment (regardless of owner) being covered by the warranty.

Your waranty policy is your waranty policy and you have every right to enforce. I am just asking why it was designed that way in the first place.

I would think IF THERE IS AN EASY WAY FOR YOU TO DETERMINE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT VS A DEFECT CAUSED BY THE RESELLER, you would honor the warranty all the way to the end user.

Frohlich..a very good question.

My warranty to begin with:

Lifetime with receipt (I am not a stickler on this..if a reasonable explanation as 99% of people are honest and will give you an honest response). They pay to return head...I pay ship to them. Unless they are out of the country. They must use my dist. in respective country.

If I warranty every head for all time concerning used...that creates a major problem...clubs will get passed around forever and when it or if it does break...I must replace at this years pricing on a club that let's say is 6 years old when originally purchased by the original buyer. ..and keep in mind...everytime the club is sold used...the seller will tell his customer that the club is lifetime warranty to enhance the selling point which in turn does my fitters/resellers and Geek no good at all! Eventually, after x amount of years..it will come back and haunt you. Everytime it is passed on used with that selling feature....my distributors, resellers and Geek..lose a sale..and it not just the head..it's the fitting, the shaft, the grip..etc.

Steve...98% of all heads are broken because of the consumer..very little breakage because of a head defect.

One other important point Frohlich...what if my foundry goes out of business and/or I change foundries for whatever reason....the new foundry is NOT going to give me any credit on broken heads from another foundry...so on a long term basis...it's suicide from a business standpoint!

You can obviously see where that would lead...

I wouldn't expect any head I bought used to be under warranty.

Why is it every thread that deals with Geek turns into a personal attack? Same thing happened with SMT.

Sure, some people aren't always satisfied, happens with every business. But do we have to hear about it in every thread?
And I'm not taking any sides on the one in this thread, as I have had successful dealings with both.

But this was an interesting thread about a new component driver head....unfortunately something that is becoming rarer and rarer in these forums. The complaints are nothing new, and add nothing to this discussion. Start your own thread if you want to discuss that issue. Leave this one alone.

If you read merely the thread I provided and this quote below from Mr. Almo, it should be self-explanatory.

Mr. Bunker....

Now what does Mike Tait have to do with anything concerning this thread? An almost 2 year old thread...and you bring that up? That is fu-king weird!
I had no idea you 2 were Lovers?

OK...I understand now!

Where did I attack him personally, yet I suppose no one finds this offensive?

Instead of retaliating as he did and getting this thread locked down, I merely gave Mr. Almo again the "chance" that HE asked for to respond. Instead he reverts to the marketing or political ploy, answer a question with a question, avoid the topic altogether or revert to name calling.

Thanks for confirming my last post!

Very predictable and consistent.

You hurt my feelings? Don't give yourself too much credit.

You see it has nothing to do with feelings. It's all business or more importantly customer relations which have been completely ignored and don't seem important to you. But instead you prefer to be personally offensive which is a rather unique marketing strategy.

You once were very perceptive and responsive but have now chosen the low road of being merely evasive and / or distasteful.

It is now very obvious you will never get it or choose not to.

So Pot (Steve), is it a pretty good bet that you will NOT be purchasing a No Brainer?
