Painting Wishon 765 irons

The dark reddish paint in the cavity area below the medallion of the new Wishon 765 irons is very unappealing IMO. I wasn't too thrilled with how it looked in photos, but it is worse in person. And it's pretty glossy, sort of an eggshell type, so it shows the rough casting texture more than if it was a flatter finish or maybe a metallic one.

Can I just spray a new color over the existing paint? Or do I have to sand it at least enough to knock off the gloss? It's going to be pretty hard to sand inside the nooks and crannies. And it's such a strong color, it might need to be primed before the finish coat?

Apply paint stripper with a Q-Tip and remove the existing paint. You may like the "nekkid" look better than ANY paint!!


(Answer to your next question):

You might heat the face with a heatgun and carefully pull off the medallions 1st.
