I may have to add another club to the mix. At our course and a few local ones they grow the rough around some greens real tall, and often to chip out of it when the ball is sitting deep can be difficult because the wedge gets caught in the tall grass, especially when moist. So I built a Hybrid Sand Wedge and this setup slices thru the tall grass like it's not even there. This could shave a few strokes a round off for me.

I picked up a Cleveland 4 wood. I traded one of the guys I play with a box of balls for it. For some reason I just kill that club. Easy to hit off the deck and if my driving is a little off and I need to hit a fairway that is the go to club. I hit it just as long as any three wood I have ever owned, and always hit it straight.

I haven't even received it yet, but my best golf club purchase ever is a TK1 coming from Chuck @ GolfinColors. Why? Because the purchase price is going to charity. Doesn't matter if it never sees the bag, it can sit on a shelf for years, and it will STILL be the best purchase. As far as what has helped my game the most? My first iron set that I had made to fit ME, a set of Acer XDS2 Pro's on some Integra graphite shafts. Picked up 30+ yards with every club in the bag, with no loss of accuracy.

The GREAT BIG BERTHA TUNGSTEN TITANIUM IRONS made me a solid striker with the largest face, yet slimmer sole, with a perfect weighted head. They match my swing pattern and play in any condition, soil, or surface.

When I started golfing in '95, I knew nothing about clubs. Had some old Wilson blades from the '50s and persimmon woods I had bought fro $50. Struggled until an aunt found some cavity back irons at a yard sale and gave em to me. Not a complete set but 3,5,7, and 9 irons. These were so much easier to hit. The lights went on in my head. Bought a complete set of Callaway Big Bertha X-12s in '98 ....GAME CHanged!!!!. The same year I added a 3 and 5 wood Super Concord ...wow. Never hit any drivers well until I picked up a clone of the first Nike drivers. Got into club making and ..... enjoying it to the fullest.

TLT iron fitting. Hands down the best purchase I've made for my game, bar none. I had it done in July of 2007 and haven't looked back. Since then, my iron play has decreased my handicap from 10.8 to 2.7. All the rest is just fluff. I've had a million drivers in that time, a bunch of putters, changed my wedges when they're worn. The iron fitting was absolutely the key to the puzzle. I used to not bag my 3 iron because I couldn't hit it and a 4 iron off the deck was a 15 yard fade. Now, my confidence could not be higher, to the point where I've now bagged a 2 iron that I can draw on demand. R35

Tommy Armour 845 R flex / steel shaft 1 iron. The length was plus 1 inch and flat vs standard lie. It was a beast off the tee and the fairways.

Eidolon wedges. The first CNC milled wedges I owned. I have a decent short game and these things blew me away with the spin, feel and versitility of the dual bounce sole. After going through 3 sets sadly Eidolon is no more. Hopefully when the time comes the Scor wedges are as good or better. As a side note putting quality graphite shafts in my irons has truely improved my play and I will never be returning to steel.

For me it is when I made the switch to graphite shaft driver which gave me immediate length to make up for lost clubhead speed. Also getting my Snake Eyes QS hybrid that I put together for $40. It definitely helped me with long uphill approaches which are many around here.

My iron play is now better with an off-the-shelf cheap set from 2003 than it was with my custom-fit irons. Go figure.
