After I post this, I will start another thread titled "Best Golf Accessory Purchase Ever"?

But first....what was the single best golf club (or in the case of irons or wedges) the best set you ever bought?...A real game changer for you? The club or clubs that turned your game around?

For me?

While I went thru many of the evolutions of golf (i.e. bigger heads, MOI, square.....etc)...

The best club I ever bought, that changed my game, is my handmade Olympia putter by Tom Slighter.

I gave him the specs in 2005, it arrived a month later and I have never looked back.

My strength is ball striking, Ive owned quite a few iron sets but painfully, truthfully, i will admit that i could switch between any and not notice much difference. For me, the best purchase was my YES putter I bought last year. It ended up taking lessons for me to figure out i had some bad alignment habits, but determined to have a nice putter I went to Golfsmith and literally spent 90 minutes trying every kind of putter they had, different grips, etc. I discovered i can yank a 300 dollar putter just as much as the 30 dollar grab bag special. The YES putter was the only one I found that felt good in my hands, gave me a consistent roll and its taken shots right off my card.

Putter for me too.

I grabbed a PennEagle Palisade about 5 years ago. I don't know if it's the putter itself or the fact that it's the first putter that fit me. But I roll the ball on target and at the right speed with that thing. Used to be honestly 40 putts per round routinely. That putter was an overnight change to about 35.

hmmmm....I'd have to sa it's either my SMT O2 12* or my Nike Oz T100 putter I got at a demo show. either work best for me. Like Darrell, I can switch between iron sets and not notice much difference, but when my swing is just right, the O2 puts it long. The putter is consistent when I am. It's also very forgiving.

Probably the Calloway ERC Fusion driver (legal version), Ping Craz-E putter, Ping Eye 2 irons, and Ping Zing 2 irons. I also have a Ping Anser (Phoenix) that I bought in 1974 that still sees some playing time.

I'm not using any of the above clubs at the moment, but the only ones that don't see occasional playing time are the Ping Eye 2's and that's because they were stolen. As you can see it's very difficult to choose just one purchase and I have left several out that are probably right up there with the ones I have mentioned.

16* Zebra utility/hybrid club head. Oldest club in my bag and in no danger at all of being replaced. Actually have a duplicate head still in the plastic should anything happen to this one

Pearl Golf/Feel Golf 10* Malibu Woody Driver. I could never hit a driver consistently well until this club joined the bag. It has a different launch angle than a regular driver and works like a 5 wood for me off the tee.

I've given up the search I think and maybe the game itself too.

Callaway Fusion Wide Sole irons.

I always struggled with my irons, even short irons. I was able to hit these pretty well (even the mids) from the first time I picked them up.

I still use hybrids because I like them, but the Fusion Wide Soles were a game changer for me.

Ive posted this before, but I will again. In the 90's I picked up a 19* QSII out of a grab bag at a local course. Took me awhile, but when my game got a little better, this club has never been replaced. Off the tee, off the turf, whatever. The distance is awesome. Ive tried to replace it, but it aint happenin! Ive even snapped the shaft that was in it, replaced it, and the magic is still there. I have 2 more in backup,,,just in case.
