Good luck, Cutter! Is that your surgeon's screen name too?

I highly recommend they use Brampton's for the fusion; stays put, never comes loose!!

Only the 20/20. With that 10/10 stuff, you can pull it again without heat.

And seriously Paul -- all the best in your recovery.

Praying for a sucessful surgery and a speedy recovery.

The problem I see with have new toys during recovery is the temptation to go out and "just hit a couple".

I just had ACL replacement at the end of Feb. They said 12 weeks before golf (which is actually today), but I've played two rounds and had two range sessions . Just couldn't wait...

Cutter - I've got the same issue, mine is a Grade 2/3, had it for 17 years (since it was diagnosed), supposedly 1/3 of all people have it to some extent from birth. I can't sit or stand for extended periods of time, I'm constantly fidgeting, moving around to alleviate pressure. I've also found I can't sleep in one position for very long, else I wake up nearly a cripple (takes 2-3 minutes of hobbling around before I can walk "normally").

What Stage are you at? Luckily, mine's been stable since '95, haven't needed anything other than some chiropractic work to alleviate any lingering issues. A friend's GF just had three of her verts fused, and they shaved off a portion of the spinal canal, alleviating the pressure on her spinal cord. Less than 6 weeks later, she's back to work.

Hope your surgery and recovery go well.

Paul, very sorry to hear this. The timing for a golfer stinks but the relief you will receive will be worth it. Just follow docs and PT'ers orders.

The season I missed to avoid back surgery I used on the putting green making a transition to a long putter. That probably doesn't interest but possibly a belly putter may help take stress off the back and something you might be able to do earlier.

I'm still in recovery mode from my surgery and have been using this time to clean out the unused closet and will be doing some building soon for motivation.

I did also just make a few purchases.
Keep us posted on your surgical date and recovery.

Best of luck with your recovery. I actually think buying some clubs is a great idea. Almost nothing would get me back on my feet quicker than knowing there are some new clubs just waiting to be hit.

Best of wishes for your surgery and recovery!

I also have the spondylolythesis. I was diagnosed by a chiropractor back in the early 80s. He thought it was bad enough to see an orthopedic surgeon. He talked about going in and wiring it into place but wanted me to lose some weight first. Never happened. Not like I haven't tried, but not successful. It doesn't bother me much. Occasionally it'll get pretty tender and I just lay low for a few days and it gets better. Looking at the grading chart, mine is a 2-3.

Now I'm looking at surgery to repair a broken heel. Doc says I broke off a piece of heel spur and it's floating around in there keeping the Achilles tendon inflamed. I'll find out on 6/19. If so, he'll go in, remove the offending bone and clean up the tendon. I'm looking at 6-8 weeks in a cast with therapy afterward. My whole summer is shot.

Good luck with the surgery Cutter. As someone with experience in having layoffs due to surgery, my only advice is not to rush it coming back. My advice for ho'n would be the same.
