I would recommend taking the GolfBuddie into your consideration. The staff is walking the courses like SkyCaddie does, plus no annual fees and upgrades free of charge. You buy the unit and that's it. Their cheapest option is the GolfBuddie Voice. A small device that you can clip on your belt. Just push the button and the Voice tells you the distance to center green. If you need F/C/B, you can take a look at the display.

Regards,
Michael

I own an SGX. It's a fine unit. SkyCaddie SkyGolf has their own forum and you can go check out the complaints over there that they have not removed. Look at their forum rules, and some of the posts. You'll see that they are VERY heavy handed in their approach of dealing with customers.

They deceive new buyers into believing all is rosy, it is not.

There has been no updates to the SGX in a year.
Their syncing process is substandard.
If your unit breaks past the initial 1 or 3 month period, they will offer you a refurb for $90.
They have been accused of installing dated batteries in the unit that die after a year. That's OK, for $90 they will send you a refurb with another battery.
If you post negatively, they will edit your posts without any sort of notice or indication, or even delete your post entirely.
They will even ban you from posting if you bother them too much.
They will tell you that you're the only one with a specific problem, then you'll see others post within a day or two with the exact same issue.
Their money appears to go into advertising, NOT enhancing the product.
I'm now waiting nearly 2 years to have even 1 of the 5 courses I requested to be mapped.
The SGX is not remotely as sturdy as the SG5 I had before.

I could go on, or even offer more details on any of the points mentioned.

Thanks for the info. With this, and all the positive comments already relayed during this thread, I'm going to go with the Garmin.

Thanks again,
Chance
