I’m hoping that some of you out there will give me some insight as to how the Graman G60 Wood shaft will play to flex. I’ve been considering the regular shaft on the basis of swing speed recommendations. I’m right around 90 MPH now. Any information would be a great help.

Tech,

Graman have got a decent guide to swing speeds just in case you've not seen it:

http://www.gramanshafts.com/FittingGuide.html

At 90 mph you seem to fit neatly into "regular".

I've only played the G70 stiff and it seems to play "to flex" - so no surprises of being too stiff or like a noodle.

Nice shafts - I heard that the G60 profiles very similar to the more expensive S60 with a softer tip.

Thanks, AJo.
Thats what I was wondering about if it plays "to flex". I'm currently using an SK Pure Energy in an "A" flex and it's a great shaft but if I get a little quick look out left.
I'm wondering if the Graman would hold up a little better because of it's lower torque rating.

Tech,

Not sure its always worth comparing torques between different companies as there's no consistent approach to measuring it - but saying that Graman do seem to have the knack of producing low torque shafts but without feeling boardy.

I would make a guess that the G60 would have slightly higher butt frequency than the SK Fiber Pure Energy so should be a bit more stable for those quick swings.

Hope it works!

Not an expert, but have some experience with Graman shafts that I can share with you. I currently play the G70-R. I did compare the older versions of the G70 and G60 shafts - UL540 and UL440 respectively - both in R flex. For me, the heavier UL540 worked better for my swing. I felt the UL440 didn't offer quite the control and good feel of the UL540. My swingspeed is similar to yours. Whether the Gramans play true to flex, I'd say that is debatable. My impression is that the Graman R-flex shafts feel softer to flex than many other R-flex shafts I've tried. I can say I've had faster and slower swingspeed hitters try my Graman shafted drivers and have seen very good results - most say they like the feel of the club at contact. Bottom line - if you do better with lighter weight shafts, go with the G60, if you do better with heavier weight shafts, go with the G70. Since you are currently playing an SK Fiber shaft, I think you will be pleased with the Gramans.

I think what you have found is the same I found. The SK Fiber PE shaft is a great feeling shaft, but once you try to get a little extra out of it, as you say, look out left. I have played several different Graman shafts the last few years, a S95 r flex in a hybrid, a 780 r flex in a driver and now M 70 r flex in my irons. Also my wife has the M 70 L flex in her irons and the Graman's all seem to play very close to flex.
