I've used groundclear around my house the last 2 years, spraying my driveway and the areas right up against the house so I don't have to mow as close. I am planning to do some landscaping around the house, and would like to plant some bushes/shrubs in the areas I already sprayed, which was done almost a month ago. They advertise the product to kill all grasses and weeds. But I can't find anything about planting a potted plant/rootball bush/shrub after spraying. Does anyone have any experience? Nothing on the label is specific enough about planting anything after spraying, and I didn't find much in my internet research.

I think after a month you should be ok to plant your shrubs and bushes. I found a yahoo answer that says it is ok to plant after just 1 day, so 30 should be extra good. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080415155922AAfbwB2

That's more info than I found on the multiple pages I found. But that was just for RoundUp, so maybe I should have research it, too. But I'm guessing since it's been a month, I should be ok. Besides, it's going to be at least a week before I get anything planted, and maybe closer to a month. I thought by then I'd be ok, but I was just checking to make sure. Thanks Duffer!

Gracias my fellow hoosier! Like I said, at the earliest, it'll be next weekend before I plant anything anyway, so I'm not in that big of a hurry. I can wait!

If it is a 'soil sterilizer', nothing will ever grow there again until all nutrients are put back into the soil. If weeds/grasses have been returning to the area where you've sprayed, you should be OK. But do wait for xbanker's reply....those folks know their dirt!!

I was assuming ground clear and round up where the same thing, but apparently ground clear has an added herbicide that could cause issues. I would wait for xbanker to get back to you with expert advice.

I own a farm and use herbicides professionally. If you check out the Label of Ground Clear it contains gyyphospate + imazapyr. The latter product is a non discriminate root toxin which has a 17 month 1/2 life. This is not a product I would use on agricultural fields but it certainly would be useful for keeping an area vegetation free after a treatment of roundup (glyphosate). In light of this I wound NOT plant anything of value for at least one season if you used labelled rates. Imazapyr is leach able so if you have sandy ground the plant back may be less. If you applied a "little bit extra" to assure a good kill and you have ground with significant clay content then the plant back maybe longer. A quick way of checking is to plant an "indicator crop" such as a cheaply obtained plant such as a pansy, coleus, or whatever you can get at a garden center. A general persistent root herbicide should quickly dispatch these offerings if a lethal concentration is present. Hopes this helps.
