need to move forward to start the swing. I had been using my right hip to start and i'm hitting better then ever. But my dam driver is still coming from outside, it usually starts out straight and has some fade at the end, which cuase alot of shots that should be in FW to roll a few yds off. Then i saw vid on youtube which said if you don't bump your left hip forward and allow your arms to drop, thats how you get driver to come from inside?
All comments welcome...I usually shoot mid to upper 80's on short course of 6100 yds.

Left him movement to the left without the right shoulder turning out at the transition is how you DO program the swing to get and be on line through the ball.

As for a bit of a fade--sometimes that's a simple grip tweak - make it stronger. If when you DO straighten the TRAJECTORY of the ball it goes left, then you either have to aim righter, or consider the hip bump, or both.

Practice the motion without hitting golf balls with a mirror to your right to see if you turn out early, and from face on to see if you indeed MOVE YOUR HIPS LEFT BEFORE YOU START YOUR ARMS DOWN.

The right LEG pushes the ground to make the left hip shift forwad.

PULLING the left hip is where most amateurs go very very wrong.

Gravity falls you to the left. If you personally prefer to push, fine: but walking is falling, not pushing.

Yeah i can still tell with the driver that my right should is going out over the plane and the club is coming from outside , maybe only a little but still not attacking ball from inside. So when i watched the vid on youtube he talked about bumping the left hip forward in order to promote a more inside attack. I've been playing for 20 yrs and still cant get the ball to start right of tartget and draw back, espcially with the driver.

It's about adjustments, GP, not ability. Stand so your club path starts more to the right than you do now, and close the club in your hands a bit. It is about geometrical alignments, not in-swing manipulations.

He also stated you should feel like your laying the club down on a table behind you and when the club is parallel to the ground the butt of the club should be pointing out at right field. i dont want to just close the club face sooner because that doesn't fix my angle of attack or plane.

When the club shaft is parallel to the ground, the shaft should NOT be aimed at right field very much unless you decide you want its PATH to go that way. So be careful you don't overdo that, or it's a formula for a slice big time - it's the Tiger Woods right rough and woods slice for which he is famous. He thinks body parts moving, not clubhead throwing/swinging.

The GEOMETRY OF THE GRIP determines whether impact will create no sidespin, not manipulation!

So your saying it doesn't matter if the club comes from the outside as long as the club face is square? Also with irons i notice my divot is points way left of target.

When the ball goes STRAIGHT, you won't slice or hook, obviously, BUT you then will find that your PATH needs to be aimed more to the right (or left) so that that straight ball goes where you want it to go. Slice is sidespin: straight shots going left or right is about path! So rotate the turntable on which you stand until the ball goes where you want it to go!

Thanks George, obviously lots of teaching pros have different opinions on the swing mechanics

Opinions are just that. Truth survives opinions. That's the whole problem in golf: the failure of enough of those in "high places" to recognize truth vs. opinion.

The laws of physics are truth. Measuring 60" vs. 60 1/2" is about truth when a measurement from chest to ball makes the difference in centered impact on a club. It is not opinion.

Straight lines vs. curves are facts...aiming at a target vs. aiming wrong are facts, truths.

No, opinion is only applicable when it isn't possible to ascertain facts.

A curving ball MUST HAVE HAD A GLANCING BLOW of path vs. face for it TO curve. Eliminate the divergence between face and path to get it to be straight. Not by manipulation, but from natural physics operating without interference.
