I've been struggling with my swing since I made a few changes a couple of weeks ago. I moved my hand position in front of centre. I adopted an upper body tilt to the right. After a couple of frustrating sessions at a driving range, I realised something. Because my head is now behind centre, I tend to turn my head further towards the ball to get a proper look. Sure as hell this restricted my shoulder rotation. Just a simple head tilt to the right made all the difference. I have a problem with people who emphasise the importance of keeping your head still to beginners. They often leave out Important facts. My swing was held back for a long time because I believed the most important thing is to keep my head frozen from my stance with my chin always facing down. No one ever emphasised the Importance of tilting my head until I researched it myself. I also added a lot more distance to my driving once I found out that a proper weight shift will cause your head to move back a couple of inches. Your opinions.

Lateral move is OK as long as you could return the head position back at impact. Vertical and/or forward backward move of the head is a sin !

Yeah I agree with that. You should never make a conscious head movement In any direction in my opinion. Instructors should emphasize that you should try to keep your head still, but lateral head movement may occur when shifting back. It's important to state the latter because one can develop a reverse pivot in an effort to keep one's head still, especially when you try to get a good rotation and weight transfer with the driver. Some beginners also think a head tilt counts as head movement like I used to.
