Thanks Lobo - The bag seems right again and the planets are aligned. On the K15, I am soooooo finicky about sound and feel - the G10 is the Holy Grail of sound and feel for me.

I owned an entire new G10 bag when the models came out. G10 4-uw lasted one 6 month season and were nice irons. G10 driver,3 wd,17* & 21* hybrids bought spring after fall of g10 iron introduction I took all back after one month probably because the stiff V2 HL shafts weren,t for me at the time.
Probably have been thru 8-12 sets of irons since and numerous woods. HC never changed and could have saved a mini fortune if I had just had the G10 woods switched for different shafts.
Point of comment is although it's fun to change stuff I never expect to better my game eventhough there is always that glimmer of hope. BTW I do have some WRX G20s 3-pw flighted Project X 6.0 amoung my irons that play much differently than the g10s with AWT stiff. The trajectory is different but changing the shafts probably could have partially accomplished that. Although minor I think the wieght displacement in the G10 and G20 heads is different whether important or not to somebody who knows.

"minor' is the key word. Mfg'ers are just tweaking at this point in the technology curve.

Generally, I think there are only small, incremental changes in equipment from year-to-year.

It's when major techonologial innovations come out that there is a real difference in performance from one model to the next

Simply put, the technology in the G10 isn't really any different from the technology in any newer Ping model out there. There may be different shapes, styles, weights, weight distributions, etc, but overall, the technology is the same.

There may be a difference if you're going from an old small driver to an adjustable one, or from an older steel driver to a 460cc titanium one. There may be a difference if you're going from a cheaper shaft to a new premium one. there may be differences if you get fitted instead of buying off the rack. But by and large, a Taylormade R9 isn't any less effective today than when it was purchased. Aside from the extra adjustability in the R11, it's not like taylormade just figured out overnight how to make a 460cc titanium driver amazingly better than they could 6 months ago. So unless you think the adjsutability of the R11s is what you need, or you think that speed slot thing in the RBZ is a big technological leap, it's only really a matter of preference.

think about this....3-4 years ago, square head drivers were the new thing. They were suddenly going to help us all hit it farther and straighter. that was the "breakthrough." How many are on the market now? Two? Ultimately, the year-to-year changes in drivers are gimmicks. Compare today's irons to 10 years ago? Sure. those icnremental changes add up. But compare it to 2 years ago? No way technology jumped that much that quickly.

I think it was Frank Thomas that said something to the effect that the last major breakthroughs in golf equipment were investment casting steel, graphite shafts and titanium heads/faces. Since then it has just been refinement of those technical discoveries.

I think today you can add hybrid clubs as well. Even most of the pros are bagging at least one. I know for me they have been a God send as I could not hit the 3 or 4 iron consistently the last half dozen years. Now the 3 hybrid is my go to club especially when I have trouble with shots from 175-190 yards.
