I hung up the clubs for quite a while there, but my daughter is talking about trying out for the golf team at her school, so I had to dust those babies off and see if my swing was any good any more. Took a few tries with the 7 iron to even get the ball out 100 yards, but found my groove pretty quickly. When I got brave enough to grab my 5 wood, I put the ball out past the driver shot of the guy next to me

Why'd you hang 'em up in the first place? Just curious...

Funny you should ask that. I think I got burned out on the game. I got so worried about getting better that I was tensing up, which led to injuries and bad shots. It was a downward spiral from there. Ironically, when I got to the range, badly out of practice but not really caring how I hit the ball, I did just fine. Just goes to show that trying too hard and tensing up are bad for your golf game.

It is a practise range not a driving range.

I play best when I get up to the ball and tell myself "eh...if it goes bad I'll just drop another ball".
Seems to get my mind off the stress of the shot and I end up doing pretty good.
