Thanks guys, I am not worried about price so much and I do try to regrip at least once a year. Most of the Tour velvet grips I have used over the years seem to lose their softness and tackiness. I played GP Tour velvets for about 5 years but went away from them for that reason. I play as many rounds in a year as most people play in three years maybe even more. Being retired I play about 150 rounds a year but I also practice at least once or twice a week as well. even really good grips have a hard time holding up to that amount of golf. Plus I just love the feel of new grips on the clubs as well. I also putter around with my clubs a lot and I enjoy regripping them too. At any given time I can have 3-4 different grips (at the same time) on my clubs because I am trying out new grips. Right now I have Star, Lamkin Crossline, Wynn lite, Wynn drytac lite. The two Wynn grips are ones I am testing now.

ltbdh--I think the point would be if you play 150 rounds a year is that you need to re-grip more often than once a year. Many pro's re-grip every 3-4 weeks. Then, cost does get involved. My choice re-grip every 50 - 60 rounds and use Karma Tour Velvet. The cost of the higher priced Winn's, Lamkin's etc. preclude that for most.

What i have found is the higher priced grips last about twice as long as the less expensive grips. Plus cleaning them a lot takes the dirt and sweat off them and makes them feel like new for quite awhile. I use to regrip every 3-4 months when I played Tour Velvet grips but with today's grips they do last probably twice as long if not more. I have tried some of the less expensive grips and they just don't seem to keep their freshness or tackiness very long for me. Plus the fact I am always trying new grips I always have a few new grips on my clubs all through the year. I usually change come late fall and again in early spring. So when I said once a year I misspoke.

Winn Xi7 on current gamers. They were dirt cheap and I've found this Winn grip to last like the Excel, but be much better when wet.

Black Widow Tour Silks on another set. $.99 each and they have a nice feel although I need to put a fair amount of tape under 'em.

Tacki Mac Itomic It2 on another set Got 'em for < $3 each and they have a soft tacky feel I like although they don't clean as easily as the originals and taper more so they need more buildup tape too.
