OK...starting to look at new putters....haven't really looked in a while. Help me narrow down the search.

I'm looking for the following:
1. LIGHT head
2. SOFT feel
(greens are fast and hard in SoCal, so I need something that doesn't roll the ball fast)

What are things I should be checking out?

I think maybe the Cleveland Classics line would be something worth looking at. They are 340g and have a pretty soft feel. Odyssey Blacks are 330g I believe and are also nice.

I've had a Rife Cayman that felt quite soft and left everything short. Try a Rife blade.

For fast greens, if go with a blade. If the greens are slow, then play a mallet.

I'll second this. I had both a Barbados and an Abaco. I couldn't get to the hole with either or them. The feel of the grooved face on a urethane ball was very soft, as well, without an insert.

You can have a Wishon Smooth series made a light as you like. I have one and it has a very nice feel. On very fast greens I like to use my Yes Sophia.

+1. I have the newer STX proFit with the black (softest) insert and it should work well for what you are looking for, plus for another $30-40 on ebay you can get the other 2 face inserts. From what i remember the older STX putters had a really, really soft insert (almost like a pillow) and I would imagine they would be even better for super fast greens. The only problem is (at least in my part of the world) you can't try before you buy as my local gold store never carried STX - you just gotta take a chance!

You might check out Bobby Grace's newest line of putters (post-MacGregor). His new insert is awesome, imho, and definitely will give you a soft feel. As far as light, I can't say for sure (haven't re-shafted one yet); fwiw, I needed to go heavier on the adjustable weights of an AMG to get the similar feel of other putters. You can email Bobby Grace directly through his website; I'm sure he can/will advise you on the relative weights of his putter heads.

Look into lady's putter line, they are typically lighter in weight.
Many are less in asking price comparing to man's model for the same line ( wonder why women shoes are also less than men model ).
