If any of you are in the market for some headcovers, check out Stitch Golf. What a great company.

I currently have a set of Iliac covers but needed one for my 5 wood. But lately I have read some stories about Iliac's turn around reaching 2 months or so. So I hesitated in ordering it. Over on Golfwrx I ran into a post about Stitch Golf and their leather wood covers. The people who have dealt with them received tremendous customer service and they even were contacted by the president of the company.

Gobal Golf and The PGA Super Store online carries Stitch's leather headcover line. So I was checking them out and decided to order the black racer strip covers. But neither of them had the black driver cover in stock.

So I sent a question to Stitch's generic info email address asking about the availability of the black driver cover. With in minutes I had an email back from the president of the cover, Charlie, who said to call him and he would take care of me. A little bit later I spoke to him on the phone and ended up ordering a full set of black racing stripe covers (driver, 5 wood, and both hybrid covers). Charlie was a pleasure to talk with on the phone. Very nice and easy going. He let me know the timing of the order and took down my email so that they could send out a shipment notification. Then we talked a little about Stitch Golf. Learned some great and interesting things about the company.

I am looking forward to getting these headcovers and putting them into play. I think Stitch has definitely gained a new fan. I will post some pics when they arrive. Their website is www.stitchgolf.com.

Here are some links to their covers in case anyone is interested in checking out what they look like:

Don't ask my why (it's probably because I ate paint chips as a kid), but every time I see this style of head cover I think of D!ck Dastardly's gloves.

LOL. That is funny!

From what I heard, they will also have wool pom pom covers coming out around Masters week.

I used to think the same thing. But the more I saw leather headcovers on tour (Hunter Mayhan, KJ Choi, and some others) the more I liked them. Bought some Iliac covers and loved how they didn't take up a lot of room in the bag and still protected the club heads.

I meant in a nice way.
I like older golf equipments. I also miss the time when a 6,400 yards layout considered a challenging length.

Thanks for the tip. I was in need of a driver head cover and just ordered a black racer stripe one as well, though I didn't get any message about it being out of stock. It looks as nice as the Iliacs at a fraction of the price.

Plus, I've had a few Iliac wool head covers and was never really completely happy with them. On one there was a weird spot in the knit like they missed a stitch or something. it wasn't a hole, so to speak, but was like a wide spot in the knit. Hard to describe, but it wasn't right. Also had a tassle driver cover that the yarn knot that held the tassle on started to unravel after just a few weeks. I had to loop it around a few times and re-knot it as an ad-lib repair. It held together, but was annoying nonetheless, especially for what Iliac charges. Never had an Iliac leather cover, so can't speak about those, but I'm glad to have another option.

If you ordered the driver headcover from the PGA Super Store online or Global Golf, the picture may look black, but it's actually cobalt (dark blue). I just looked in the description on both and they say cobalt.

The wool POM POMs would be of interest to me, but the old leather retros are fugly (IMHO).

I used to prefer the look of the wool poms and tassels as well until I had sets of each and quickly became annoyed with constantly having the poms and tassels draping all over my other clubs and getting in the way. Now I like the clean look and unobtrusive function of the old leather style.

Also, I generally don't like the OEM covers because they're being made so monstrously large now it's ridiculous. Last driver I mailed I couldn't even close the box (and it was a driver box) with the head cover on the head.

Would have preferred black, but dark blue will be ok. As long as it's dark. I don't like bright, flashy colors, and I'm not a big participant in the current white trend. Give me dark earth tones and I'm generally ok.

You nailed it right on the head. OEM covers are monsterous now. Basically have become a big billboard for the company. I have pom pom covers from JuJu and they are great quality, but the pom poms and tassels just get in the way and sometimes you need some force to get them off and on. The leather headcovers are easy to get off, great protection, don't take up much room, and I think they look great.
