Just the opposite here.
Ive narrowed it down and after about 41" club length is where I start getting more erratic. 41" and under I can keep in the fairway and stick greens pretty easy.

As expected it sometimes takes me an extra shot to get to a green.

OK. After a few weeks of experimentation at the range, I have found a remedy that works for me. After continually hitting iron shots off or near the toe, I tried different ball positions, setting up closer to the ball, swinging flatter, more from the inside. All still produced toe hits. So,I got to thinking, let me try the opposite: Swinging steeper on the downswing. This produced center clubface hits and most were right on target. My swing was too shallow. So in order not to hit the shot fat, I naturally pull up and away, causing the toe hit. Now, I mentioned previously that I have no problem with the driver, mainly because it is teed up. So a shallower swing wont bottom out. I will see how it works on the course.

Aren't epiphanies great? Extension (as you've discovered) is the key to fixing toe hits. However, you can still pull away swinging steeper. No alligator arms. Extend.
