Yes many pros have a Negative AoA with most clubs, but the driver is different. One of the reasons the launch it so far is because they don't use a negative AoA swing. Tiger however, does, but only when he is trying to hit that stinger or a very low shot with his bigger clubs.

It is horrible advice to even try to convince a golfer to use this type of swing with their driver.

he article i was referencing was talking about drivers. Yes,some pros hit down on the driver. I'll see if I can find it.

Don't do it !

You will ended up hating your driver no matter which one you're using.
It does not matter if it's the newest $500 OEM or a custom fitted driver with your favorite shaft.

Take a few lessons from your pro to learn to hit the driver, you will enjoy the game a lot more than you do now. Think of it this way, instead of learning it from the teaching pro, you'll be spending all those green fees and range fees to get frustrated.

I am telling you the only reason any pro would hit down on the ball with a driver is to try and keep it a little lower and most don't even do it then.......maybe the article is promoting a guide to a Negative AoA swing and the author is using rare examples to try to convince people that the pros do it that way.

I have spent many years studying the swings of professional golfers and have yet to find one that consistently uses a negative AoA swing with their driver.

I've seen this Trackman chart from 2010 on a few different sites. Seems the PGA pros "average" a slight descending angle with the driver.

Bubba watson hits up 5*, Charles Howell hits down almost 2*.

So, let's think about that for a second.....Bubba hits up 5 degrees and Charles down 2 degrees......Bubba averages 315.5 yards per drive and Charles, 294.4 yards......hmmmmmm which would you rather have?

Well, let's see, Bubba is almost dead last in FW's hit,so depending on how many FW's CH-lll hits,I might very well take Howell.

That is a totally different issue. My point still remains.....hitting down on the ball with the driver is not a good way to go.

And yet many PGA pros do it,and on a whole they average a 1.3* downward strike.

One reason to sometimes stay away from the instruction forums. And believe me, they are very mild compared to yesteryear.
