My wife and I were browsing the upcoming concerts in our area and the pickings were slim.
Kelly Clarkson?
Taylor Swift?
Slipknot?

None for me, thanks.

This summer we saw that Kiss was coming Nov 21st to the arena on campus at my school. Now, I have never been a Kiss fan nor a Kiss hater. I'm a former wannabe musician and haven't been real impressed musically with their work. I thought all the Kiss Army stuff was a little much when I was younger. However, I like a concert where you get your money's worth.

Weird Al Yankovic at the Fresno Fair going through 10 costume changes and sweating bullets while performing his heart out?

Silly? Yes. Worth every dollar we spent? Absolutely.

It is with that mindset that I am going to this concert. I know about a half dozen of their songs well enough to sing along if forced to do so at knifepoint.
I'm looking for the spectacle that has gone missing from concerts I've attended lately.

I want explosions and fire dammit. I want something to distract me from the stress I've been going through the last 8 months or so. I want to have some fun. I think I'll do exactly that tomorrow night.

I'll report back and maybe have a few grainy camera phone pictures to share with my friends here on FGI.

Until then....rock on, my online golf aficionado brethren.

The guy in the dorm room next to me my freshman year in college blasted Kiss all day long. Made me sick of them. My wife had a similar experience w/ Springsteen.

Not my favorite band by any means, but I've heard they put on a fun show. I wasn't too interested in seeing Kid Rock last year, but my bro had free tickets and it was a really fun concert.....except for when these 2 dudes that were fighting got maced.....that stuff can leave you gasping and blind even when you're 20 yards away

They played Cobo Hall in Detroit a few weeks ago. Where KISS ALIVE was recorded. They called it "the holy land"... Was an amazing show. Say what you will about the songs, but they're pure rock and roll.

You'll have a great time. I saw them and Ted Nugent about about 5-6 years ago when they had their "farewell tour" at Selland Arena.

Always wanted to see them. They were huge when I was a kid. Anyway, they came close to home, we bought tickets. Big snow storm and their buses couldnt make it over the pass. So, they cancelled the show. WASP was opening. Woulda been a cool show...

Aren't they just Creed with a different lead singer?

Kiss continues to improve with age, as hard as that is to believe.
Of course, they're not kids any more so a few things have changed since their heyday in the 70's.

Spandex has been replaced with kevlar which has considerably higher tensile strength when confronted with middle age spread.

Gene no longer spits fire but does drop his dentures occasionally.

"Hello Detroit! Are you ready to ROCK?!?" has been replaced with "You damn kids STAY OFF MY LAWN!"

"Shock Me" used to be about a girl, now it's about a defibrillator.

Part of the stage show during "Love Gun" now features a giant inflatable viagra tablet.

Nah, seriously, have a good time. They're a good show.
