ORIGINAL: chollyred Good luck getting the original contractor to pay anything without going to court (if he's even still in business). After all, his work was signed off on by the county/city. The county/city may be able to pressure him by threatening to revoke his bond, but if he's out of business, that won't go far. Maybe the Health Department could help you out with the Inspection Department? But do you want the county/city roads and drainage department ripping up your yard? I had to have my drain field repaired/extended a couple of years ago. Maybe I got a deal, but it ran me $2500. This is exactly why you should make a copy of the contractor's license, insurance and bond info before the work started. If the contractor is out of business now, you could still go after his insurance policy for error nd omission; if not too much time passed by ( check your local regulation ). The contractor will still be liable for his work even if the work was inspected and signed off by the local authority.
